or a needle in a damn haystack.

This is old hat; but this new DA:

Love:
ICONS ON THE DEVWATCH.

Don't So Much Love:
The layout of the front page. I mean, I like it a bit better for browsing, although my browsing on DA is mostly by going through people's favourites rather than the DDs or Popular or whatever, and sometimes the crap that shows up in the "recently submitted" is a total eyesore. BUT, I used to get a handful of page views from people who saw my uploads, and usually a random comment or favourite from someone who saw and liked it enough to click on it from the front page. It wasn't much, but it was something. This went down pretty drastically in the last shell since the chances of someone seeing it in the five or six icons in the front page was minimized, and now it's totally non-existent.

Quit whining, Gillian Blekkenhorst!

Anyway, let me know if you know about any collabotation thingies that aren't comic battles (I have no "original characters" to put in.) I got to meet new internet people.

Fanart gets some good hits but I always end up deleting them because the always get three times as many hits as anything else in my gallery, generally from people who I am pretty sure just favourite everything with the canon in the keywords, and that bums me out.(So I haven't uploaded any of my nine-zillion Batman pictures, since I am so completely obsessed lately! But I might bust my policy since I'm working on a picture right now I really like.)

Oh man oh man sorry it's just that I spent SO MUCH MONEY I don't have on art school and I'm a better dishwasher than a scribbler.

Other things I wish were different on deviantart: I wish the "Deviant Groups" devwatch option actually had an application. I have like 300 unseen deviations right now, WAY TOO MANY people on my list to keep up with, and because of this I find it hard to keep up with, and I keep deleting certain deviations without opening them because I'm not in the mood for that kind of art. I'd especially like to seperate photography from illustration, and furthermore the sort of comicky-OC artists from the painters. But I'd like to be able to watch photographers in a separate tab because I find I'm always deleting their work enmasse to clear up my watch for everything else. (Sorry photographers!)

was a fabulous place and I regret that I spent it being twelve instead of twenty-two. I'm gunna go get me a ball-chain necklace, a dress shirt with a giant retro collar, and some No Fear platform shoes: hang out with my band in my garage with our instruments we can't play, smoking funny cigarettes and listening to our favourite ALT-ROCK POST-GRUNGE HITS, amirite?

(For serious though I love those retro collars. WHY ARE THEY SO HARD TO FIND we went through a 70s revival like two years ago surely they were not all set on fire?)

Anyway my point is, thanks for all the nice attention paid to my last two pictures, it's got me drawing again! Which is pretty... wait for it.... mint.

i am a savage, besmitten with her.

the loneliest werewolf I wander the earth!

(I discovered Ludo two days ago and since then it seems like everyone (on the internet) is talking about them. Way to be on the ball, Gillian Blekkenhorst! Also wonderful, besmittening, in fact, is Ubiquitous Synergy Seekers, who you should certainly look up, post-haste. They're from Toronto and the local radio station and I certainly think they're something fabulous, but I'm not sure if they've ever been heard of outside of the city, never mind the country. Toronto is weird like that, it's completely confident in it's role as the Center of the Culture Universe when in the real world it barely qualifies as the Canadian Culture Capital. The rest of Canada is pretty (geographically) far away, though, eh. In any given location you're more likely to pick up culture crap drifting up from over the border than the next Canadian metropolis. We're always hiking down to Minneapolis and New York for concerts (and gambling.))

In other news, maybe at some hypothetical future date I will hook up my scanner! until then, no damn Batman pictures for you.

CHECK IT: As of July 10th, I have officially been on Deviantart SIX FUCKING YEARS. SIX YEARS!!

My old account (~liankathleen) has 211 watchers and 22,414 Pageviews. Since there hasn't been anything in that gallery for almost three years that's probably quite near what it was at the time I left.

My current account has 7,567 Pageveiws and 122 watchers. (I apparently give about 100 comments for every 10 I receive. I also watch 301 people, which may be irrelevant considering I've been completely unable to keep up with my watch for a few months.) Oh, I've had this account for 2 and a half years.

bruuutal.

Hurray! DA, thank you greatly, I've been basically not bothering with my watch list because it's too massive to take care of without icons. I added too many people when I was paid and then got overwhelmed when I was not anymore.

Speaking over "Overwhelmed", this summer is like being kicked in the face repeatedly! I took all my elective 4th year courses early thinking I didn't want to get all stressed out next year for thesis, and as a result, I am SO FUCKING STRESSED OUT this summer instead. I've only got two right now, but one in particular is fucking nails, man. Nails, you know what I'm saying? Plus I'm working which is also driving me down, and I've got no time to draw pictures, sharpen up made m4d n0-sk1llz, or work on my thesis proposals, even through I have been slaving over it since before last summer I still have NO CLUE and am worried I still won't by the time school kicks around.

So I've got class until August 13th, then I'm taking the train up to Kirkland Lake, will spend a few days there with my parents and their annoying friends, drive to Thunder Bay, see my grandparents but probably not anyone else, then fly back to Toronto (oh crap I have no idea what day) and probably spend that last what like a week working and cleaning and still not doing thesis.

OH HELL, WHAT HAVE I DONE TO MYSELF?!

However I am going to go see the Dark Knight tomorrow! (Hopefully!)

MOAR COMIXXX

Check it out, I put up the short shitpile of short shitpile comics I've done over the last few years. If you've been following me for a few years you've probably seem most of them, if not all of them, but most of them have been off the internet for the past year or two. An Educational Pamphlet on Killing Them Before They Kill You is up there. I've got one finished that's not up there because I haven't got a chance to scan it and misplaced it in my lair somewhere, although that will probably debut at deviantart as well. Plus, you know, there's always the hard done by suburban mythology.
